Nina Foxx 〔http://www.google.com/search?q=nina+foxx&btnG=Search+Books&tbm=bks&tbo=1〕 is an American author, playwright and filmmaker. She has authored eight novels, co-authored one text on writing, and her work has been anthologized multiple times. She has also penned two stage plays including original music with collaborator John Forbes. ''Marrying UP'' toured several cities and is now distributed on DVD by Urban Home Entertainment. It starred R & B Crooner Tony Terry, Gary "Li'L G" Jenkins from the R & B Group Silk and Comedienne Keisha Hunt (ComicView). Foxx also produced, wrote and directed two award winning short films and is currently in development on a feature film based on her book ''Just Short of Crazy.'' Her book, Momma:Gone was shortlisted for a Doctorow Award in Innovative Fiction and a nominated for an African American Literary Award in 2014 for best novel won Foxx a nomination for African American Female Author of the Year. Catfish (2014) won an African American Literary Award in the Young Adult Category, and A Letter for My Mother (2014) also won in the Best Anthology Category. In the spring of 2005, Foxx co-founded The Femme Fantastik Literary Tour with fellow authors Lori Bryant-Woolridge and Carmen Green, a tour dedicated to showcasing the work of Female Writers of Color. In 2011, She founded the Lovers, Saints & Sinners Literary Event Series. Foxx is originally from Jamaica, New York. She graduated from Hunter College (BA Psychology), Baruch College (MS, I/O, Psychology), City University of New York (Ph.D. I/O Psychology) and holds an MFA in Creative Writing (fiction) from Farleigh Dickinson University. Prior to becoming a writer, Foxx worked in User Experience Research & Usability. She authored several industrial design patents and has taught Applied Psychology at several universities. Foxx speaks about the writing life and blending the arts and technology to groups and schools all over the United States as part of various STEM efforts with groups such as Teh Links, Inc and code.org.
